(VOVworld) - The opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party, CNRP, has expressed the wish to return to the negotiating table with the ruling Cambodian People’s Party.

At a press briefing at its headquarters on Saturday, CNRP President Sam Rainsy said he hopes his party and Prime Minister Hun Sen’s CPP will hold a 3-day talk from next Wednesday to deal with the current political deadlock with the participation of civil social organizations, trade unions, and political parties. Sam Rainsy said issues relating to workers’ demands raised during strikes will be part of discussions between the two parties.

In response to Sam Rainsy’s request, a CPP senior official Chiem Yeap said CPP is ready to talk with CNRP to resolve disputes. But further discussions on who will join the talk are needed.

However, at the press conference, CNRP Deputy President Kem Sokha insisted that daily protests will continue in Phnom Penh.

Since the middle of this month, CNRP has organized demonstrations in Phnom Penh to push the government for a re-election. Prime Minister Hun Sen rejected the opposition’s request and asked the national security forces to restrain from conflicting with protestors.
