(VOVworld) – Solutions for boosting tourism by preserving and promoting cultural heritages were discussed by the Can Tho municipal People’s Committee and a UNESCO representative on Wednesday.

Pham Thi Thanh Huong of UNESCO Vietnam’s cultural research division said a UNESCO survey shows that Can Tho is on the right path in focusing on eco-tourism and helping tourists experience local culture. She advised Can Tho to apply the national strategy for community-based tourism development, which was designed by UNESCO and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The model focuses on training and helping local residents and businesses improve service quality. UNESCO Vietnam will work with the Can Tho administration to develop in the direction of green industry, clean agriculture, and eco-tourism.
