Can Tho festival honors traditional cake making

(VOVWORLD) -More than 230 booths are introducing traditional cakes, regional specialties, and delicious cuisine at the 12th Southern Traditional Cake Festival, which opened on Sunday night  in Binh Thuy district, Can Tho city.

The festival until Tuesday is gathering hundreds artisans, who have demonstrated their the creativity in making the Southern cuisine more appealing. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City and chief organizer, said, “This is not only an opportunity to honor the traditional cake making profession but also seeks to promote specialty products to domestic and foreign markets, making Southern cakes a valuable culinary brand”.

The event is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30), and looking back to the nation's roots on the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day.

The Festival includes an OCOP (One Commune One Product) area for regional specialties; a cake competition zone; a corner for artisans to demonstrate and instruct how to make Southern cakes; and an exhibition of ornamental plants.
