At the meeting, Ling Ji, vice minister of commerce and deputy China international trade representative, said China's door to the outside world will only open wider and that China's policies to attract foreign investment have not changed and will not change.

He pledged to continue to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of foreign enterprises in China, including those from the United States.

Responding to the new tariff measures announced by the US, Mr. Ling said the US needs to return to the multilateral trading system. He called on US businesses to speak up rationally and take practical actions to work with China to maintain the stability of the global production and supply chain, towards win-win cooperation.
