Canadian Ambassador: Huawei executive can avoid extradition
(VOVWORLD) - Former Huawei financial director Meng Wanzhou can make a good case against being extradited to the US, Canadian Ambassador to China John McCallum said in a comment broadcast on CBC on Wednesday.

Ambassador McCallum said Meng can invoke political involvement by comments from US President Donald Trump about her case. He added Canada does not apply the same sanctions against Iran as the US.
Meng Wanzhou, daughter of Huawei’s group founder, was detained in December in Vancouver at the request of the US over alleged violations of US sanctions on Iran. President Trump said last month that he will intervene in the case if it benefits US security and helps negotiations of a trade deal with China.
