(VOVworld)- A conference to review patriotic emulation movements of Catholic followers took place in Hanoi on Wednesday. Presentations at the conference highlighted new creative models in responding to the movement in dioceses. Many Catholic followers have become role models in poverty reduction and economic development. In 2014, the Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics opened its branches in 40 localities. The Committee received several international delegations including representatives of the US Embassy in Vietnam, the Vatican, and UN’s Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion and belief. In his address, Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front‘s Central Committee Le Ba Trinh praised the Catholic followers’ efforts in all fields and wished them a Merry Christmas.
