According to Associate Professor and Doctor Colonel Hoang Xuan Nhien, Lecturer at the National Defense Academy, the Central Highlands campaign employed special diversion tactics, isolated enemy positions in the northern Central Highlands to intensify fighting in the south.

“In the 1975 Spring Central Highlands Campaign, our army conducted tactical feints, enabling us to defeat the enemy on the Central Highlands battlefield and eventually win the struggle for national independence and freedom,” Nhien noted.

Success was due to the coordination of military arms and the brilliant leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam in mobilizing the people of the Central Highlands.

Associate Professor Dr. Tran Ngoc Long, former Deputy Director of the Vietnam Military History Institute, said, “The highlight of this campaign was the strategic feint which drew enemy forces to the northern Central Highlands, enabling our main divisions to liberate Buon Ma Thuot.”

“Strict security and confidentiality, close coordination, and the strong support of the central highlanders led to this historic victory, proving the correctness of the Party’s resistance strategy and of President Ho Chi Minh’s military thought, which harnessed the power of national unity,” said Long
