The storm,  the 10th to enter Vietnamese waters this year, is forecast  to make landfall between Da Nang city and Phu Yen province on Thursday. Mr. Dung urged completion of a landslide and flood warning map.

Super typhoon Goni swept across the Philippines' main island of Luzon, packing sustained winds of up to 225 kph, on Monday, killing at least 10 people and causing volcanic mudflows to bury houses before weakening, Reuters reported.

Last Wednesday, Molave, one of the most powerful storms to hit Vietnam, hit Quang Nam and Quang Ngai provinces, bringing heavy rains and deadly landslides to the central region, already battered by multiple storms and historic flooding. At least 33 people have been killed and 49 others are missing, according to the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disasters Prevention and Control.

Molave caused economic damage worth around 430 million USD, according to statistics from provinces affected. The damage was nearly 1.5 times higher than last year’s total natural disaster-induced loss of 302 million USD, mostly due to floods, storms and landslides.
