Central Vietnam tries to recover from typhoon Nari, tornados, and floods
(VOVworld) – Consecutive torrential rains and water release from hydropower plants in central Vietnam over the past few days have raised water levels in some rivers in the provinces of Quang Binh, Thua Thien Hue, and Quang Nam, worsening floods in many localities. By Thursday morning, river floods had reached their highest levels and were slowly going down.

Heavy rains in Quang Binh province and flood-tides have submerged 10,000 local houses, killed 6 people and injured 30 more, while tornados have damaged 730 houses. The provincial authorities are mobilizing hundreds of military soldiers, public security officials, and border soldiers to support the local people in their efforts to overcome the natural calamities’ aftermath. Deputy Secretary of Minh Hoa district’s Party Committee of Quang Binh province, Nguyen Luong Hinh said: "We have supported all families whose homes have collapsed, compensating them with 350 USD. Each household also received 250 USD from the district’s Fatherland Front, and 50 USD from the provincial Red Cross Society."
Almost all areas in Da Nang city center have been reconnected to the electricity grid. The municipal People’s Committee has decided to provide emergency aid to families affected by typhoon Nari.
