(VOVworld) – On Monday a Chinese nuclear special envoy asked the Republic of Korea to address the deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defence System (THAAD), an advanced US missile defense system, in the RoK.

Wu Dawei, China's special representative on Korean Peninsula affairs, made the request at a meeting in Seoul with Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se affirming that Seoul has been well aware of Beijing’s viewpoint of strongly opposing the deployment that could threaten Chinese security. Wu expressed his hope that Korea will deal with China’s concern seriously.

The same day, Wu met with Cho Tae-yong, Deputy Chief of the ROK Presidential National Security Office, and first vice Foreign Minister Lim Sung-nam. A Korean official said during the talks, Wu reiterated China’s stance to be opposed to the US’ missile system in the Republic of Korea.
