China confirms 2 more H7N9 cases
Two more people in Shanghai have been confirmed to be infected with the H7N9 bird flu, local authorities said Sunday. One is a Shanghai resident and the other is from Anhui province. The two male patients, 67 and 59 years old, developed flu symptoms in late March and were diagnosed with pneumonia. Shanghai so far has 10 confirmed H7N9 cases, 4 resulting in death and 6 still undergoing treatment. The total number of cases across China has reached 20, including 6 deaths. To prevent the spread of the virus, authorities have ordered the slaughter and incineration of 98,000 birds.
