China overtakes the US as the EU's biggest trade partner
(VOVWORLD) - China surpassed the US in the third quarter to become the EU's biggest trade partner, as the rest of the world slid into the red due to the Covid-19 pandemic, according to a Eurostat report published Wednesday.

Over the first nine months of this year, trade between the EU and China totalled 425 billion euros, while trade between the EU and the US was only 412 billion euros. For the same period in 2019, EU trade with China was 341 billion euros, 120 billion less than with the US. Eurostat cited a 4.5 percent increase in Chinese exports to the EU, while US exports to the EU fell.
