In the first seven months of the year, bilateral trade volume surged 40%, said Ministry spokesperson Gao Feng at a press conference. During that period, China's imports from the US jumped 50%, while exports rose 37%. That shows that the two economies are complementary, Gao said, insisting that bilateral trade cooperation serves the interests of both countries and peoples.

China has maintained that the imposition of new tariffs by the US is good neither for China, nor for the US, nor for the global economy.
