(VOVworld) - Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said that the reconnaissance conducted by US military aircraft of China’s maritime features is highly likely to cause misunderstanding and untoward incidents in nearby waters and airspace.

At a press conference in Beijing on Monday Hua Chunying said China firmly opposed the US’s provocation, adding that freedom of navigation and over-flights does not mean that foreign war ships and military aircraft are free to threaten China’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Earlier, US Assistant Secretary of State Daniel Russell said that China's massive construction activities in the East Sea have worried many countries and might spark conflicts in the region.

US Vice President Joe Biden condemned China for violating international Law with its massive building activities in the East Sea.

Biden said Washington will deploy about 60% of its naval forces to the Asia Pacific region by the year 2020.
