(VOVworld) - Deputy Commander of Vietnam Maritime Police, Colonel Ngo Ngoc Thu said Chinese vessels continue to hit, ram and prevent Vietnamese Maritime Police vessels on duty to protect national sovereignty. General Nguyen Quang Dam, Commander of the maritime police force said China has continued to deploy more military vessels, maritime surveillance ships and airplanes to the HD 981 oil rig area, making the situation more complicated.

In related news, fisherman Nguyen Loc, owner of fishing vessel QNg 96416, has reported to An Vinh commune border guard station in Ly Son district, Quang Ngai province that his vessel was hit to damage by Chinese ships in Hoang Sa waters. He said his ship was attacked by hard objects and iron hammer and then chased and hit at tail while fishing in Hoang Sa. General Dam said to prevent losses for Vietnamese fisheries administrators and maritime police force when preventing China’s installation of the oil rig illegally, all legitimate protective measures will be prepared to minimize casualties against the backdrop of Chinese acts. Vietnam upholds its view of self restraint to avoid tension with peaceful fight but not compromising in territorial sovereignty.
