China’s Yunnan province strengthens cooperation with Vietnamese border localities

(VOVWORLD) - Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son has called on China’s Yunnan province to boost agricultural and aquatic imports from Vietnam.

At a Tuesday reception in Hanoi for Wang Ning, visiting Party Secretary of Yunnan province, Son asked Yunnan to coordinate to maintain smooth customs clearance at border gates, step up road and rail transport connectivity in border areas, and resume a direct air route for passenger and cargo transport.

He also called on both sides to maintain close coordination in the management and sustainable use of border rivers and streams, properly implement legal documents on the land border between Vietnam and China, complete procedures for upgrading and opening border gates and border crossings, work together more closely to manage and guarantee order and security in border areas, facilitate friendship exchanges and movements of border residents, and jointly build a land border of peace, stability, cooperation, and development.

Wang said Yunnan attaches special importance to friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation with Vietnamese ministries, sectors, and localities.

He said Yunnan is ready to maintain exchanges and contact with Vietnamese localities that border Yunnan, and capitalize on all potentials, strengths, and complementarities, thereby contributing to the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
