China-US relations face most serious challenge since establishment of ties
(VOVWORLD) - Relations between China and the United States are facing serious challenges since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1979, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Thursday.

Addressing a forum on China-US relations via videolink, Wang said some people in the US view China as an "opponent" or even an "enemy" out of prejudice. They take every opportunity to suppress China's development and obstruct the connection between the two countries, he added. "We hope the US can build a more objective and calm understanding of China and formulate a more rational and pragmatic China policy," said the diplomat.
Wang proposed that China and the US form three lists: the first to identify areas both sides need to work on, the second is a dialogue list on issues expected to be solved through communication despite differences, and the third is a control list with issues that are difficult for both sides to reach consensus. Wang also called on the US to work on tackling the COVID-19 pandemic.
Wang said China is still willing to develop its relations with the US with goodwill and sincerity.
