Chinese premier: Hong Kong administration can ensure safety
(VOVworld) - Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said Friday he's confident that the Hong Kong administration can ensure safety for its people and foreign investors there. Speaking at a joint press briefing with German Chancellor Angela Merkel after a high-level meeting Friday, Premier Li said the Hong Kong administration can maintain its economic prosperity and social stability in accordance with law while ensuring investors’ basic rights.

He stressed that Beijing won't change its "one country, two systems" approach to running the territory, adding that a prosperous and stable Hong Kong will bring benefits to both Chinese mainland and Hong Kong. He warned that outside forces should not interfere in this matter, saying it was China’s internal affairs. Also on Friday, thousands of protestors gathered in Admitalty center district. Protests reoccurred after the Hong Kong administration canceled the talks with the Central Occupy protestors scheduled for the same day.
