Christmas carols are echoed on the streets filled with festive atmosphere. The capital city’s streets are decorated beautifully with pine trees, reindeers, and Santa Claus. Tran Thanh Duong, a Hanoiian, said “This year, it’s very exciting, particularly in the walking streets around Hoan Kiem Lake. It’s really wonderful. Almost every year, my family and I went out for Christmas celebration.”

Nguyen Mai Anh, who has just returned to Vietnam from Canada, told VOV: “Christmas in Vietnam is the time for hanging around with deer friends and relatives. In other countries, people stay home to welcome Christmas and New Year in accordance with Catholic practice. But here in Vietnam, people go out to the streets to enjoy the festive season.”
