(VOVworld) - The Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment has launched the national campaign “Take action for a waste-free environment” in the northern province of Thai Nguyen, in response to the global campaign “Clean up the world”.
The campaign aims to increase the public’s awareness of environmental protection, pollution and waste, in a bid to contribute to global environmental efforts. The ministry calls upon local authorities, organizations, enterprises, and individuals all over the country to protect the environment and take practical actions, including reducing, reusing and recycling waste.
Launched in Australia in 1993, “Clean up the world” is a community-based, environmental campaign that inspires and empowers communities around the world to clean, restore and protect their environment. The campaign is celebrated on the 3rd weekend in September each year by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Vietnam has been part of the global campaign since 1994.
