Conference: Vietnam – France’s new strategic partner in Asia

(VOVworld) – Vietnam’s investment climate topped the agenda of a conference called “Vietnam – France’s new strategic partner in Asia”, held Tuesday by the Vietnam Embassy in France and the ESSEC Business School.

In his opening address, Philippe Pasdelou, President of ESSEC Alumni International, said France is Vietnam’s second largest provider of official development assistance, which reflects France’s keenness on expanding its relations with Vietnam.

Vietnamese Ambassador to France Duong Chi Dung reviewed Vietnam’s achievements during its renewal cause since 1986 and its comprehensive international integration. He focused on Vietnam’s success in socio-economic development strategies and increasingly preferential policies for foreign investors.

Regarding economic ties with France, Ambassador Dung highlighted France as one of Vietnam’s top trade partners in Europe and one of its top consumers. He went on to say that big opportunities are opening for economic cooperation thanks to the elevation of the relationship to a strategic partnership, agreed during a visit to France by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in September.
