Congo massacres kill 23 people

(VOVworld) – The Democratic Republic of Congo’s authorities said Thursday that 23 people were killed in 2 massacres near Mbau town in North Kivu province. The 2 massacres were reportedly carried out by the Ugandan Allied Democratic Forces.

The Allied Democratic Forces have been accused of several other killings near the city of Beni in North Kivu province. Since last October, more than 300 people, most of them are women and children, have been killed by Ugandan rebels, despite a military campaign against them by the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Army and UN Peace-keeping Forces.
