Following 2 weeks of tense debates, most negotiators reiterated their support for the October report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which found that global warming could reach 1.5 degrees as soon as 2030 and about 3 degrees by the end of the century. It showed that the world is way off course in its climate change response plan. The goal of the Paris Climate Agreement of keeping global temperature rise to 1.5 degree requires quick, unprecedented changes to all social aspects.
COP 24 participants agreed that COP 25 will be hosted by Chile late next year.
