(VOVworld) – Representatives from 195 countries attending COP21, the UN Conference on Climate Change, in Paris on Saturday adopted a historic agreement on preventing global warming, the cause of sea water rise and severe weather phenomena. French president Francoise Hollande said he felt positive attitude in the meeting room and there was no disagreement.

The world community has hailed the agreement, which sets the goal of limiting the rise in average global temperature to "well below 2 degrees Celsius above preindustrial levels. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said the Paris agreement on climate change is a resounding success for multilateralism. Today, we can finally tell our children that we have joined hands to bequeath a more habitable world to them and to future generations, Ban said.
From Washington, US President Barack Obama said on Sunday that the agreement was a strong one, showing what is possible when the world stands as one. India and China, the two most populous nations and biggest producers of greenhouse gas among developing countries, hailed the Paris climate agreement as a step to a brighter future.
