(VOVworld) – The Supreme People’s Court held a ceremony on Monday to announce its decision to establish the Court Academy. Justice Truong Hoa Binh presented the decision to the Academy’s leaders.

In his address, President of the National Steering Committee for Judicial Reform, President Truong Tan Sang urged efforts to develop the Academy into a modern, high-quality scientific research center: “The Academy should understand Party guidelines and state law on judiciary. It should become a prestigious post-graduate training center in the region. Graduates should acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for Vietnam’s judicial reform and international integration.”

President Sang asked the Academy to increase international cooperation, particularly in the settlement of international judicial disputes concerning national sovereignty, trade, and intellectual property.

The Supreme People’s Court announced its judge recruitment examination 2016 on the same day. This will be the first examination of its kind since the Law on the Organization of People’s Courts came into force in 2014.
