Court in Egypt confirms Muslim Brotherhood terrorist label
(VOVworld) - The Cairo Court for Urgent Matters issued an order declaring the Muslim Brotherhood a banned terrorist organization on Monday. The Muslim Brotherhood was accused of conducting several attacks against the army and police since the political unrest began on July 3 last year, which overthrew President Mohamed Morsi. The cabinet declared the Brotherhood a terrorist organisation on 25 December 2013 following a bloody attack on police headquarters in Mansoura. Hamdy Al-Fakharany, a lawyer with the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights says the cabinet’s decision was an administrative one that can be appealed but the court’s decision is final. Muslim Brotherhood spokeswoman Wafaa Al-Banna denounced the decision saying that everything done after the July 3rd protests is void.
