Speaking at the Government’s online meeting with localities, Prime Minister Chinh called for specific action plans to realize Vietnam’s socio-economic development plan until 2025, which he said must be put into action immediately, resolutely, and effectively.
The Prime Minister demanded that people respect current social distancing rules and that testing be increased to detect infections more quickly and seal off infection clusters. He urged localities where social distancing is being enforced to supply sufficient food and other necessities and encourage the public to strictly comply with pandemic safety measures.
The Prime Minister said Vietnam is trying to obtain as many vaccine doses as possible while accelerating technology transfer and COVID-19 vaccine research in order to produce vaccines domestically. Although the process is going well, it will take more time for domestic vaccines to be approved and produced, following strict scientific and legal procedures.

COVID-19 containment is the top priority at the moment, because without that, socio-economic recovery and development will be much harder. Mr. Chinh called for adequate circulation of commodities and money, a sufficient labor force to sustain productivity, help for businesses struggling to survive the pandemic, and consistent guidelines from authorities at all levels.
