Slovenia was the latest country to confirm its first case of coronavirus Covid-19. The Chinese National Health Commission on Thursday reported 139 new cases and 31 additional deaths, all in the epidemic’s center, Hubei province. Total coronavirus cases in mainland China have surpassed 80,400 and deaths have exceeded 3,000.

The World Health Organization said the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases outside of China has surpassed 10,000 for the first time.

Poland and Argentina confirmed their first coronavirus cases on Wednesday, while Spain and Iraq recorded their first deaths.  

The number of infections in South Korea is more than 5,600, with 33 deaths.

The Italian government closed schools and universities nationwide because of infections, surpassing 2,500 and more than 100 deaths. In Iran, 2,300 people have been infected and 77 have died of Covid-19. British health officials said the number of new cases of coronavirus on Wednesday reached the record high of 85.

Los Angeles, California declared a health emergency Wednesday because 6 more infections had been detected in the previous 2 days. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported 158 cases and 11 deaths across the US.

During a phone call with US President Donald Trump Wednesday, French President Emmanuel Macron said France is willing to coordinate with the US in the fight against Covid-19.
