CPI estimated to top 3% in 2019
(VOVWORLD) - The General Statistics of Vietnam reports that Vietnam’s GDP in the first half of this year increased 6.76%, which is lower than the growth from same period last year, but higher than that of the same periods from 2011 to 2017.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) averaged 2.64% in the first half of this year. The figures were released at Thursday’s conference on the market and prices in Vietnam and detail growth and projections for the rest of the year.
Experts said there will be some factors hampering CPI growth in the second half of the year, including a decline of agricultural produce’s exports. Director of the Institute of Economics-Finance, Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Ba Minh, said CPI growth this year is estimated at a 3% range. He said: “This year’s CPI will increase 3-3.2% compared to previous years. It’s due to the price hike of foodstuffs, particularly pork which is suffering from the African swine fever. Other reasons are possible increases in educational and healthcare fees and the raise of the basic salary since July 1.”
