Crime prevention tops NA agenda

(VOVWORLD) - The National Assembly (NA) continued its ongoing session on Tuesday in Hanoi, focusing on crime prevention and control, judicial work, and fighting corruption.

Nguyen Manh Cuong, a delegate for Quang Binh province, sent his condolences to the families of Vietnamese citizens among the 39 victims found dead in a lorry in Essex in the UK last month. He asked law enforcement agencies to promptly detect, investigate and deal with human trafficking rings.

"The government should guide agencies at all levels to fight human trafficking with measures covering economics, administration, and law integrated with socio-economic development and poverty reduction. It’s essential to well design programs to send Vietnamese workers abroad to enhance their living standards," said Mr. Cuong.

Law makers asked the government to fine tune policies on preventing corruption and listened to and discussed a report on amendments to the Law on Libraries.
