(VOVworld) – The Yang Koi festival to worship the Rice Genie and a ceremony to erect a bamboo pole, known as a Neu tree were held on Saturday at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Hanoi.

These festivals by Ma and Ede ethnic people of Lam Dong and Dak Lak provinces took place as part of cultural activities to welcome the 132^nd General Assembly of the Inter-parliamentary Union (IPU 132). Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho is from Lam Dong province’s culture center: “Yang Koi is a traditional worshipping ritual organized by the villagers to express their gratitude to the Rice Genie for bumper crops”.

 The Ede introduced their ritual of greeting Neu tree to pray for peace. Neu tree is indispensable in every traditional festival of Ede ethnic people.
