The 2-day festival honors the song "Da Co Hoai Lang" written by artist Cao Van Lau more than 100 years ago. This is one of the most famous and popular songs of Don Ca Tai Tu Nam Bo (Southern amateur music).
Southern amateur music was honored by UNESCO in 2014 as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity. In his opening address at the festival, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam said: "Culture is a source of national strength, the spiritual foundation of society, and both the goal and the driving force of Vietnam. Preserving and promoting our national cultural heritage demonstrates our filial piety to our ancestors and our responsibility to future generations and world civilization."
The Festival includes a conference on connecting the supply and demand of goods, a trade fair of OCOP products, and the 2022 Investment Promotion Conference, attended by more than 500 government officials and business. The festival is expected to attract more than 20,000 visitors to Bac Lieu city.
