Curtain raised on 20th Vietnam Film Festival
(VOVWORLD) -The 20th Vietnam Film Festival opened in Da Nang city on Saturday, honoring Vietnam’s best movies and promoting the image of Vietnamese people, culture, and tradition to the world.

It is part of activities to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The 5-day event will include free outdoor screenings of films, seminars introducing the ASEAN film industry and an exhibition on Vietnamese cinema.
“Vietnam’s cinematography needs to uphold our traditions and values to create educational and humane works. This is a good way to promote our culture to the global community,” said Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam at the opening ceremony.
The highlight of the festival is the ASEAN Film Awards which is initiated by Vietnam and aims to introduce the best movies in the region to the world and affirm the role of the cinema industry in strengthening culture and friendship among nations of the ASEAN community.
