(VOVWORLD) - Cyclone Idai with the death toll of at least 360 may be one of the worst natural disasters to hit southern Africa in generations.
Farhan Haq, deputy spokesman for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, has given a grim report of the destruction left by the cyclone that hit parts of Malawi, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe.
He said on Wednesday that 20 million USD from the UN's Central Emergency Response Fund have been allocated to communities affected. UN officials called on increasing support to the region as the amount of damage caused by cyclone Idai is expected to rise.
