(VOVworld) - The Republic of Cyprus has officially opened its consulate in Ho Chi Minh City in Harbour View building, Nguyen Hue Street, District 1.

At the opening ceremony on Wednesday, Cyprus’s Ambassador to India and Vietnam Demetrios Theophylactou said Vietnam is Cyprus’s important partner with great cooperation potential, so opening a consulate is necessary to tighten their partnership in economics, politics, culture, and tourism.
Tran Thi Hieu Hanh, Deputy Director of the HCM City Department of External Affairs, said the consulate will boost cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Cyprus and promised the Department’s support.
The consulate will be in charge of granting short-term visas to Vietnamese heading to Cyprus for vacation or business purposes.
