(VOVworld)- British Prime Minister David Cameron said it was time for more voices to be heard in the wake of Scotland's historic decision to reject independence. He said work would start on a "full and fair settlement for all of the UK" in what appeared to be a shift towards a more federalist nation. However, Cameron said that Scotland’s new power will also be accompanied with extensive reforms of the Constitution throughout the country including an agreement to give more power to England’s MPs in handling Scotland’s issues. In addition, the Westminster will also delegate more power and financial resources to major cities.
In related news, the Governor of Scotland Alex Salmond on Saturday announced that he would resign as the Governor and leader of the Scotland’s Nationalist Party after the majority of the Scots said no to independence.
Meanwhile, the world public praised the Scots for deciding to stay with the UK. US President Barak Obama congratulated Scotland’s referendum. In a statement released on Saturday, the President of the European Commission Jose Manual Barroso praised the Scottish voters’ decision saying that this result was of great importance in enhancing the EU’s unity, openness and development.
