(VOVworld) – The Danish military announced Friday that it warplanes bombed Syria targeting the Islamic State (IS) for the first time, as Denmark expanded its fight against the IS from Iraq.

Four F-16 jets bombed the militants' stronghold city of Raqqa, targeting command and control facilities, weapons warehouses and IS gunmen. Denmark's Chief of International Air Force Missions Jan Dam told Danish media the bombings had been an "important contribution" to the anti-IS campaign led by the US.
