(VOVWORLD) - Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai has over the past two days met with UN Deputy Secretary General Amina Mohammed, spoke at Cornell University, and attended a business talks organized by the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU).

At a meeting with UN Deputy Secretary General Amina Mohammed at the UN Headquarters in New York, Mr. Khai affirmed that Vietnam consistently supports multilateralism and a world order based on international law and UN Charter and the UN’s central role in the global governance system to respond to shared challenges.
Mr. Khai said Vietnam supports the UN initiatives to accelerate the implementation of sustainable development goals. He asked the UN to prioritize supporting Vietnam in improving its ability to respond to and adapt with climate change and effectively manage water resources, energy transition, innovation, and digital transformation.
UN Deputy Secretary General Amina Mohammed said that Vietnam is an important partner of the UN and she expects Vietnam to coordinate in implementing UN agendas. She affirmed that the UN agencies are willing to help Vietnam mobilize resources and accelerate the implementation of development goals, especially in energy transition and climate change response.
