Deputy PM urges accelerated restructuring of state-owned enterprises

(VOVWORLD) -Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai has urged for fine-tuning the institution and legal framework, accelerating the reorganization, renovation, and improvement of the operational efficiency of state-owned enterprises and the development of the private economy.

Deputy PM Khai, who leads the Steering Committee for Enterprise Renovation and Development, chaired the Steering Committee’s meeting on future tasks and solutions in Hanoi on Wednesday. 

“The ministries, sectors, and localities continue to direct more closely to perfect the legal framework and mechanisms, policies and regulations to clear obstacles in the restructuring of enterprises, especially the equitization and divestment. Particularly assessing the equitization and divestment period from 2016 to 2020, it is necessary to state the causes and problems that exist, and propose solutions related to the mechanism, which is the key to fulfilling specific tasks,” he said.

From 2016 to 2020, 180 enterprises were equitized with a total enterprise value of 20 billion USD and state capital value of 9.5 billion USD. Last year, 65 million USD worth of State capital were divested of 18 enterprises.
