The plans should classify which construction works and housing can be regarded as safe enough during storms, depending on windstorm levels. Based on these criteria, provinces and cities will outline detailed plans for residents’ evacuation. Mr. Hai directed the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to continue updating, finalizing, and publicizing an overall storm zoning plan and specify storm risks and rising sea levels in coastal regions. It’s necessary to define areas which can be hit by typhoons or hurricanes and their impacts on infrastructure works and housing. Deputy PM Hai called for improving communications, and public awareness, considering them to be the most important response to storms and typhoons.
