(VOVWORLD) -Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh on Wednesday sent a congratulatory letter to Antony Blinken on his appointment as US Secretary of State.

In his letter, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Minh applauded Mr. Blinken's contributions to the Vietnam-US relations over the years, saying Vietnam attaches great importance to and wishes to strengthen practical, stable and long-term relations with the US on the basis of respect for international law and each other’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political regime.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister said he hopes the Foreign Ministries of the two countries will continue to work closely to contribute to deepening the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Partnership, especially in economics, trade, investment, and joint response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh sent congratulatory letters to National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry.
