Digital economy enhances connectivity in Indo-ASEAN-Oceanic region

(VOVWORLD) - At an online meeting with ambassadors of countries participating in the Indo-ASEAN-Oceanic Business Summit and Expo that opened on Tuesday, Vietnamese Ambassador to India Pham Sanh Chau urged countries to push ahead with the digital economy and IT application in the administrative system in order to enhance connectivity and integration in the Indo-ASEAN-Oceanic region.

Ambassador Chau said the COVID-19 pandemic has badly hurt the global economy and trade. Complex administrative procedures in each country have caused additional difficulties for businesses. Digital solutions are needed in the “new normal” period, according to Ambassador Chau.

He said, “In spite of the pandemic, trade war, and many turbulences around the world, cooperation and connectivity are a must and cannot be reversed. And it’s the case between India, ASEAN, and Oceanic, including the Pacific countries, Australia, and New Zealand. The opportunities are there and very promising. We can fully benefit from them if we have a strong political will and remove all the hurdles, politically and diplomatically.”

The Indo-ASEAN-Oceanic Business Summit and Expo is a first-of-its-kind trilateral business summit involving prominent countries from ASEAN and the Oceanic region. On its sidelines are online meetings focusing on bio-technology, pharmaceuticals, agricultural products, and renewable energy.
