Diplomats put national interests first: Party General Secretary and State President
(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen Phu Trong on Wednesday handed over decisions to appoint 9 Ambassadors and Head of overseas Vietnamese representative missions abroad for the 2020-2023 term. He also received 30 Ambassadors and Heads of Vietnamese representative missions.

Party leader and President Trong urged Vietnamese diplomats to strengthen coordination and unity and promote Party diplomacy, State diplomacy, and people diplomacy in all fields and in bilateral and multilateral aspects, successfully complete their foreign affairs tasks, and put the interests of the country and nation first. Mr. Trong stressed the need to deeply comprehend and consistently implement the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralization of foreign relations, and being a friend, a trusted partner, and a responsible member of the international community.

The Party chief and President expressed his hope that Ambassadors and Heads of Vietnamese missions abroad will have a greater vision, do better research, recommend strategic issues on building foreign policies of the Party and State, and make sharp contributions to drafting documents of the 13th National Party Congress.
