Do Nhuan’s opera “The Sculptor” restaged
(VOVWORLD) -The opera “The Sculptor” by famous composer Do Nhuan returned to the public at the Hanoi Opera House on Saturday night, opening a series of everlasting classics program to the mark the 60th anniversary of the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet Theatre.
The Sculptor, which was premiered in 1971, features love in the war in the Central Highlands battlefield, but focuses on love, loyalty and patriotism rather than the war itself. Emeritus artist Tran Ly Ly, Director of the Vietnam National Opera and Ballet Theatre, said: “Our theatre with its 60-year history wants to entertain the audience with musicals, operas, and ballets. All of the artists try our best to restage the two operas: The Sculptor and Swan Lake. The Sculptor has been performed for hundreds of times. So by restaging the opera, we want to honor those who have contributed to the reviving the opera.”
Composer Do Nhuan was the first General Secretary of the Vietnam Musicians’ Association. He is among leading composers of Vietnam’s revolutionary music.
