(VOVworld) - Eleven Republicans concluded the second debate at the Ronald Reagan Library in California on Wednesday in the race for the Republican nomination, with insurgent front-runner Donald Trump at center stage.

During the debate, which lasted 3 hours, the candidates discussed a series of hot issues including Iran’s nuclear deal, immigration, taxation, the budget, and the specter of a government shutdown over Planned Parenthood funding.
Donald Trump, a billionaire businessman, has become the first Republican presidential candidate to top 33% support in the race for the Republican nomination and was the target of criticism by almost all the other Republican rivals.
The second gathering offered an opportunity for Republican voters to compare the 11 presidential candidates. The party has planned to organize 9 debates before its preliminary vote which will take place next February.
Meanwhile the Democratic Party has scheduled 6 discussions with the first to be held on October 13th.
