The Republic of Korea’s Unification Ministry spokesman Kim Eui-do said at a press briefing that such claims were unconvincing, adding that Pyongyang’s nuclear program hampers efforts to improve inter-Korean relations. Mr. Eui-do said the DPRK should not repeat its unreasonable claims, but instead return to the dialogue table. He reaffirmed Seoul’s support for inter-Korean agreements including the Statement on June 15th saying that Seoul consistently resolves inter-Korean issues through dialogue.
Earlier, the DPRK issued a four-point proposal clarifying its stance on easing tensions on the peninsula and achieving "independent reunification" of the two Koreas.
