(VOVWORLD) - National Assembly deputies on Thursday discussed the draft Law on Legal Aid.
They recommended that all people entitled to legal aid be those belonging to vulnerable groups regardless of their financial condition to ensure citizen’s rights.

Legislators insisted on Vietnam’s consistent policy of involving society in providing legal aid to maximize the rights and benefits of the people subject to legal aid and ease the financial burden on the State.
Deputy Nguyen Thi Xuan representing Dak Lak province said: "It’s essential to involve all social sectors in legal aid work. I think the law should expand the providers of legal aid and diversify the form of the aid. The draft law encourages lawyers and other individuals to participate voluntarily in legal aid activities, particularly in remote and disadvantaged areas.”
It is expected that the Law on Legal Aid will be adopted at the end of this National Assembly session.
