The statement followed a chaotic 24 hours during which Trump’s campaign spokesman said the nominee believed Obama was a natural born citizen, but Trump himself refused to answer the question. Mr. Trump also accused Democratic rival Hillary Clinton of initiating this issue, but Ms. Clinton rejected it, adding that those speeches showed that Mr. Trump does not fit to become a President.
In another development, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton leads Republican rival Donald Trump by 4 percentage points, and her recent bout with pneumonia doesn't appear to have scared away her supporters. Clinton has an advantage among minorities, women, people who make more than $75,000 a year, and those with moderate political leanings.
