Duong Lam village in Duong Lam commune, Son Tay town, in the outskirt of Hanoi, was the first ever ancient village in Vietnam to win this title. It has preserved all features of a typical Red River Delta village: banyan trees, water wells, communal courtyards, temples, winding village roads, and small alleys.
The management board of Duong Lam ancient village took this occasion to launch a range of activities to promote the heritage, including a painting exhibit of local daily routines, production, and traditional customs. Their costumes and architectural sketches and materials were also on display. Visitors were given an opportunity to taste their traditional food, learn about Japan's tea ceremony, and play folk games.
