Easing the pain of Agent Orange victims is society’s responsibility
(VOVworld) – The Vietnam Association of Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims hosted a program in anticipation of the 55th anniversary of the Agent Orange disaster in Vietnam on August 10, 2016.
Vice-chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu said that easing the pain of Agent Orange/dioxin victims is the responsibility of society and an urgent, long-term issue. He said the Party and state have issued many policies to support the victims, which have received widespread public support: “I call on Vietnamese people at home and abroad and international friends to join efforts to ensure the right to live and be humans of millions of Vietnamese Agent Orange victims. I call on the US government and chemical companies to admit their responsibilities and take specific actions to resolve the effects of chemical warfare in Vietnam.”
4.8 million people have been exposed to Agent Orange/dioxin in Vietnam, 3 million of whom are victims.
